With their move from Presidio Heights to the Design Center, Antique & Art Exchange now has a spralling 6,300 square feet space to showcase their vast selection. Laid out more like an Aladdin's lair than a typical antique store, Antique & Art Exchange showcases the wares of 35 dealers, arranged in vignettes throughout the shop. Wandering through them is like exploring a series of parlors, lavishly furnished with 18th and 19th century French, American and English furniture and decked with Chinese textiles, unusual lamps, decorated screens, and objets d'art. Cabinets are filled with heirloom-quality silver, porcelain, ceramics, sculpture, frames, Venetian glass, and candlesticks. The walls are covered with paintings and rare and unusual mirrors, a specialty of the shop. Owners Howard and Keith (above with Lincoln) are available for expert consultation, and they've created an impressive website–the next best thing to visiting the store in person.
