"Antiques, art, funk and junk" is how Bill Haskell describes Aria, his North Beach shrine of found artifacts and curiosities. Bill first developed an interest in and an eye for other people's objects as a teenager when he salvaged a pair of Victorian glass domes from the basement. It's been a calling ever since and Aria displays the bounty acquired on his buying tripsvintage mannequins, paper globes, old saints, glass eyes, articulated artists figures, anatomy and natural history teaching charts, carved puppets, and writing ephemera, just to name a few items you might encounter. While Bill is combing Paris flea markets and estate sales for these treasures, he entrusts the shop to friend and assistant Billy Ola Hutchinson, who offers Aria customers his impeccable knowledge and service while waiting for the next "shipment" to come in.
