From the runways of Paris to the award show red carpets, the centuries-old art of corsetry has made a big time comeback. But when it comes to creating that hourglass shape, Dark Garden proprietress Autumn Carey-Adamme was way ahead of the curve. Carey-Adamme made her first corset at age 12 and was instantly hooked. By 16 she was studying costume design and apprenticing with a couturier; by 18, she had opened her own shop. Now in its 15th year, Dark Garden offers superbly fitted creations that span the spectrum from fashion to fantasy, with a side trip to fetish along the way. Carey-Adamme and her staff have outfitted everyone from Pamela Anderson, Marilyn Manson and his muse Dita von Teese, to a bevy of stylish brides seeking something unique and personally designed for that walk down the aisle. Many of Dark Garden's designs are made-to-order. The customer selects the style and fabric, then 12 measurements are taken to give each garment a second-skin fit that's flattering and shockingly comfortable. Dark Garden also has a stunning selection of ready-to-wear corsets available for immediate gratification.
