How many people do you know who've had a line of sneakers named after them? Keith Hufnagel has–"Huf" shoes by DVS– and this pro-skateboarder sells them, along with Nikes, Adidas, Vans, DCs, I-Paths and more at three San Francisco locations that he runs with his wife Anne. The couple opened Huf with the idea of selling footwear and clothes inspired by, and geared to, skaters. The appeal of Huf, however, goes far beyond the ollie and kickflip set. Occasional deliveries of limited-edition shoes send lines of sneaker collectors snaking around the block. Artists create skateboards for the store that are meant to hang, not roll. Style-conscious young urbanites achieve instant hip in Huf's made-in-SF signature clothes. And pop-culture junkies swear by the well-edited selection of books and 'zines on design, street style, graffiti art and (of course) shoes.
