When Jennifer Streit decided to sell her beloved Russian Hill boutique Prize, she found the perfect replacement in friend and frequent shopper Miriam Lipton. "We share a nearly identical aesthetic," says Miriam, a collector and mother of two young children. In fact, it was her effort to decorate her children's rooms which first brought Miriam to Prize. Since the passing of the torch, Miriam has managed to maintain the spirit of prize while introducing new lines and concepts. You can always expect to find a good selection of hotel silver, pristinely-preserved Steiff animals, old globes and classroom ephemera, and of course vintage trophies. Clever merchandising enables Miriam to fit larger pieces into the jewel box shop, including antique furniture and Italian and French chandeliers. Layered among the vintage offerings you'll find an impressive selection of contemporary gifts like scented candles, infant tees by Egg Press, and glass glitter crafts from local designer Wendy Addison. Miriam has introduced one of her greatest passions to the mix: jewelry. As would be expected, vintage pieces are arrayed among contemporary designs by Renee Garvy, Vanessa Jenik and others. There's always an adorable selection of letter press and handmade cards to personalize the perfect gift, which you can have gift-wrapped in pink baker's boxes with vintage ribbon.
