Topher Delaney is an artist, formally trained as a landscape architect and fine artist, whose canvas happens to be the earth beneath her feet. Ms. Delaney, in tandem with the talented assistance of the members of her studio, has created some of the world's most serene and beautiful gardens, uniting the forms and forces of nature with man-made sculptural elements. Her palette ranges from residential installations to civic gestures. Among the studio's latest projects are a spectacular stone garden on Lake Michigan, a tiny jewel of a modernist garden in Daly City, an exotic Moroccan garden in Los Altos, a medicinal healing garden donated to the Women's Imaging Center at San Francisco General Hospital, and a Petanque court with rope-ball seats currently installed at the Cornerstone Festival of Gardens in Sonoma. In keeping with Delaney's penchant for creative combinations, Seam Store is an art gallery meets garden shop meets design studio. Delaney's own outdoor furniture designs share the warehouse space with bright flowerpots, frosty tumbled glass nuggets (an alternative to ho-hum gravel), Tibetan prayer flags and wool felt hats, colorful totes that look like cartoon watering cans, paintings and drawings by various artists, stools handcrafted in Africa, and dozens of other delights for the home and garden.
