At the Painters Place in Hayes Valley, the basic rectangle is reinvented daily. With over 5,000 frame samples available and three finishers, woodworkers and a guilder on staff, the Painters Place has the raw materials and in-house talent to design the crowning complement for any two- (or three-) dimensional object you may wish to display and admire. They even build stands and bases. Their standards of excellence are uncompromising and that's one reason why their customers include SFMOMA, art galleries, corporate collections and private collectors. In 1995, Matt Painter bought the business from his parents, Stan and Pat, who opened the shop in 1963, partly to give Stan a place to showcase his landscapes. At the Painter's Place, a rectangle–or any other shape–is a source of inspiration.
