Paulette Knight has been a ribbon entrepreneur for most of her professional life. Two decades ago, a trip to Paris inspired her to create her wholesale business, selling French wire ribbon not yet available on our shores. Since then, Paulette's colorful empire has grown and The Ribbonerie, a retail outlet for her wares, opened seven years ago in Potrero Hill. The shop is a treasure trove of ribbon with thousands of patterns and styles available in myriad materials. In addition, The Ribbonerie carries textile-related antiques, from vintage thimbles and pin cushions to tatted and embroidered hankies, as well as a smattering of sewing notions. It's not surprising that Paulette has become an invaluable resource for costume designers and theater groups in the Bay Area and beyond.
