Nestled in the North Bay hamlet of Olema, Vita Collage seems to capture and distill the lushness of the surrounding valley and the sparkle of the nearby sea. Owner Victoria Swif and manager Sasha Ione use their combined backgrounds in archeology, design, architecture, and fine art to create a store that feels like a small museum in which everything's for sale. The thoughtful assemblage includes unique functional household objects, imported glassware, design books, chic handbags, classic fashion accessories, fine detailed jewelry and unusual antique finds. The mix of old and new, utilitarian and luxurious extends beyond Vita Collage to the Olema Druids Hall, the adjacent bed and breakfast Inn designed by Victoria and her partner Robert Cain. After a day of beachcombing and hiking, you can spend a night at the inn (see page 149) surrounded by nature–an ideal alternative to the hustle of the City.
